April 19,2009
Trenton, MI – Robert Jones of Redford, MI., along with his partner Maurice Hall of Rochester Hills, MI, caught five walleyes weighing 32.12 pounds, to win the Michigan Walleye Tour event on the Detroit River in Trenton, Michigan. Jones and Hall had a two-day total of 10 walleyes weighing 55.83 pounds to net them the win and $5100.00.
“Today was a tough day,” said Hall, who got his first Michigan Walleye Tour victory this week. “This has been a personal goal of mine since I started fishing the Walleye Tour.
“Coming into the tournament we really didn’t know what to think,” Hall added. “The pre-fishing was pretty good. We did find some fish during practice which paid off.”
When it was tournament time Jones and Hall went out with a game plan. “Our plan was to look for clean water but when we could not we altered our presentation to fit the situation.
The duo also won the Big Bag award with a big fish weighing 9.72 pounds. Their day one total was 23.71 pounds which was good for eighth in the standings.
The team will now prepare for their next event which will also be held on the Detroit River.
