Brown and Roberts Crack The Top Twenty in Englewood
Sunday August 19, 2007
Englewood, Fl.- Dr. Charlie Roberts and Jeffrey Brown finished 13th in a field of ninety-three at the IFA Redfish Tour event in Englewood, Florida.
Fishing south in the Pine Island Sound area on an oyster bar, Roberts and Brown landed their first fish at approximately 8:30 am in about 12 inches of water. The action was pretty slow for the next couple of hours, so the duo moved to a nearby flat. At approximately 10:30 am, Brown sealed the deal by hooking a five pounder in a sandy bottom pothole.
Later, Roberts and Brown moved closer to the Stump Pass weigh in point and caught a couple of slightly smaller Reds, however they were unable to upgrade.
All the fish caught fell victim to the 4-inch Berkley Gulp Shrimp. Both Roberts and Brown used the Gulp White-Pearl rigged with a 1/8-ounce jig.
“The key for us was having confidence in our technique – working the Gulp erratic”, Brown, said. The fish were kind of lethargic so they had to be stimulated.
For their thirteenth – place finish, the duo earned $742.00
